American to Open New Admirals Club in Austin With Outdoor Terrace

American Airlines has made a series of lounge announcements over the past year, and the Austin Admirals Club is the latest addition.

American Airlines (AA) will open a new and expanded Admirals Club at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), with construction expected to begin this year.

While the airline has scaled back its ambitions for the airport over the last few years, Austin passengers can still look forward to an improved passenger experience with the new offering.

The Admirals Club will span over 12,000 square feet and will feature an outdoor terrace, which is a first for any American Airlines lounge. Located on the west side of the terminal, travelers can also enjoy the expansive views of the airfield and the city. The new space will double the current footprint.

“As we elevate our presence in Austin, we’re excited to bring a new level of comfort and hospitality to our customers,” said Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer. “This new Admirals Club lounge will reflect the vibrant spirit of Austin while offering the thoughtful design and premium amenities our customers expect.”

American Airlines has made a series of announcements and improvements related to airport lounges lately, and the Austin Admirals Club is the latest addition. Last year, the carrier opened a new Flagship Lounge and Admirals Club in Philadelphia, and a grab-and-go concept, Provisions by Admirals Club, in Charlotte.

The airline’s latest lounges feature its new design concept of softer lighting and colors. Passengers can expect similar for the new Admirals Club in Austin.

Most recently, American announced new Flagship Lounges in Charlotte and Miami. While we’ll still have to wait a while for these to open, there’s no doubt that there’s a lot to look forward to with American and its lounge network.

Passengers can access Admirals Clubs with an Admirals Club membership, the Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard, qualifying AAdvantage or Alaska Atmos status on international or premium transcon flights, or a day pass for $79 (7,900 AAdvantage miles).
