Hyatt has announced plans for the Hyatt Centric Namba Osaka, a brand new hotel located in the Namba area of the city. This property is set to open in 2031 as part of a major redevelopment project by Kanden Realty & Development Co., Ltd., Nankai Electric Railway Co., Ltd., and Osaka Metro Co., Ltd.
This hotel will be part of a mixed-use building spanning 28 floors, connecting directly to Namba Station, one of Osaka’s main transportation hubs.
The Hyatt Centric will begin with a lobby on the 15th floor, and include 267 guestrooms, a full-service restaurant, a lounge, event space, and a fitness center. In addition, a rooftop bar is planned on the 28th floor, offering sweeping views of the city.
This will be the fourth Hyatt Centric in Japan once complete. Hyatt currently offers the brand in Tokyo and Kanazawa, and is set to open a new property in Sapporo next year.

The style of this property is very similar to that of the Andaz Nagoya, which is set to open in 2034. That new Andaz will also be part of a new redevelopment project connecting to a major train station. The immediate area of major transportation hubs is highly valued real estate in Japan, given the convenience and the many things to do. Guests will no doubt be able to enjoy this convenience at both the Hyatt Centric Namba Osaka and the Andaz Nagoya.
“We are honored to be part of this landmark project in the heart of Namba,” said Masahiko Sakamura, vice president of Japan and Micronesia, Hyatt. “As a brand positioned for discovery, Hyatt Centric is the perfect fit for Namba, one of Osaka’s most vibrant and internationally recognized entertainment districts. We are fully committed to delivering a hotel experience that reflects the high expectations of the Hyatt Centric brand.

Location-wise, this property will be in the same area as the Caption by Hyatt Namba Osaka. Compared to the Caption hotel though, guests staying at this Centric should find themselves in the middle of the action in a more “centric” location of Namba, right by the stations and just a few blocks down from Dotonbori, a major tourist spot. This is a very well-connected area in the city, and visitors should be able to navigate and visit other parts of the city at ease, thanks to the proximity to the train stations.
Although Hyatt has fairly decent coverage with its properties in Tokyo and Kyoto, Osaka has been a thorn in its side ever since the closure of the Hyatt Regency Osaka, leaving it without any properties in the city for some time. The opening of the Caption by Hyatt last year was a good start, but this Hyatt Centric looks to be the flagship offering in the city when it opens in 2031.
