Gross: United Polaris Passenger Navigates IFE Screen With Bare Feet

Let’s have some common decency on airplanes, shall we?

Every once in a while, photos and videos of gross acts on airplanes emerge on Reddit, Facebook, and other social media platforms. We’ve had no shortage of images of passengers with their feet in the air, or on the bulkhead wall. It’s disgusting.

I never really pick them up on this blog or talk about it online, since most of them just entail the same “that’s disgusting” reaction. However, this recent video on Reddit has to be one of the worst passenger feet incidents I’ve seen in a while, so I had to bring it up.

Yep. That’s a Polaris passenger navigating their IFE screen with their bare feet.

Before we get into anything, I too had initially questioned if the passenger had a disability that limited their use of their hands and arms, but the OP clarified that they likely did not and had no issue getting their bags up and down from the overhead bin.

This one feels particularly gross among the similar acts shared online, as the IFE screen is something we often touch during the flight, unlike the bulkhead wall.

This was cross-posted onto the United Airlines subreddit, where one commenter said in reply, “He’s done this before… that foot knows what it’s doing. Gross.”

In addition to the foot scrolling through the movie list on the screen, the other bare foot is resting on the cubby just above the tray table.

Look. I don’t know who has to hear this, but please, let’s remember that an airplane is a shared space. I don’t care if this is how you scroll through your iPad at home, but let’s have some common decency when in the air, shall we?

We’ve seen United’s push in recent years to become America’s premium airline, introducing new products on its domestic fleet and introducing new Polaris seats on upcoming 787-9 deliveries. The “premium airline” title does not seem to extend to some passengers, however.

Additionally, ever find yourself with some extra United sanitary wipes that you received during boarding? Let this be a reminder that it’s not just the bulkhead wall that gets these feet acts. It can be your armrest, IFE screen, or your tray table, anywhere. There are plenty of spots to use those wipes when you sit down.

Stay classy, Polaris.
