Review: Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor; Convenient With Great Views

By Shawn Gallagher January 6, 2025

Welcome to the first review of 2025! I recently had a stay at the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor. I’ve stayed in this hotel many times, and I finally made myself do a full review of it when I was there last week.

This Hyatt Regency is an airport hotel located at Boston Logan Airport. This makes it convenient for early morning or late night flights. A free shuttle bus to each terminal is provided by the hotel for 24 hours a day. I had a 7am flight to catch the next morning, so the location and shuttle service came in handy.

Let’s go over this hotel!

Check-in

The Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor offers a seamless online check-in experience. I was very early compared to the standard check-in time of 4pm (I checked in at around 11am), but a room was ready for me almost instantly.

In addition, this hotel also offers a digital key through the phone, which I’m a big fan of. This means that I didn’t have to make a stop at the front desk and didn’t have to have a single interaction with the staff. Straight from my Uber to my room.

I wish Hyatt would offer this digital key system at more properties. Maybe one day.

The lobby definitely has some character. It doesn’t necessarily feel like an airport hotel.

The hotel restaurant is located soon after the front desk. The elevators are to the left and down the hall.

Room Impressions

I made my way to room 1516, which was the top floor. As I said, I was able to use my phone as a digital key here to access the room.

I had a standard King Bed room.

There’s a good amount of space by the window, enough for 2 chairs and a table. This is unique to the King Bed room; the Double Bed rooms don’t have all this space (2 versus 1 bed).

Double bed room from a previous stay

For comparison, this is a double from the last time I stayed in one. Hideous picture, I know, but you get the point about the space by the window.

The bed was very comfortable. I personally like the mattresses at most Hyatt hotels. I can’t speak for other brands as I exclusively stay at Hyatt (but will be looking to explore others this year!), but I’ve never had any issues with their beds. Obviously, this will vary from person to person.

Looking ahead from the bed was the TV.

To the right of the TV were a coffee maker and 2 bottles of water. These water bottles are complimentary, as they’re part of the destination fee.

The bathroom was modern with great lighting. The shower was equipped with a door and did not have a tub. From my experience, the double rooms at this hotel seem to have a tub, and these single, king bed rooms do not (the double room showers still have this door).

I normally don’t go crazy over the shampoo and body wash, but these by Pharmacopia were amazing. I even searched on Google thinking I may get one for myself for my apartment, only to find them to be $30 a bottle.

All in all, it was a great room.

Views and Other Amenities

This hotel offers some of the best views out of any hotel in Boston. I had a standard airport room.

The harbor view rooms get this view of Boston from their window. I’ve spent several years in the city, and I think this is arguably the best view of the skyline you can get anywhere. It’s a hidden secret even from local residents.

This hotel also does weddings. Doing one with that view of the city has to be nice!

The Harborside Grill is the hotel restaurant. Everyone gets a $20 credit here through the destination fee.

Globalists also get free breakfast here. I unfortunately had to leave early in the morning, so I wasn’t able to stop by for breakfast. I’ve had it on previous stays though, and I remember enjoying it.

During the warm weather months, this area is opened as outdoor seating as part of the Harborside Grill.

The rooms are pretty good with sound. Outdoor noise is almost nonexistent, which is important as it’s an airport hotel. I occasionally would notice conversations out in the hallway if they’re near my door (by housekeeping), but nothing bothersome overall.

Airport Shuttle

I left the hotel at 5am to head to the airport.

I used the free, 24/7 shuttle service provided by the hotel. To use it, call 617-568-1234 to request pickup. From experience though, I’ve never had to call them to go from the hotel to the airport. It’s either already there, or the hotel staff says that it’s arriving soon.

Once onboard, the driver will ask everyone for which terminal they need to use. I used Terminal A, which was a quick 2-3 minutes.

Luggage racks are provided on the bus. Forgive my lousy 5am photo.

Concluding Thoughts

I’ve stayed in this hotel many times and have had great experiences every time. Airport access is great, and the rooms are plenty comfortable.

The only thing about its location is that it’s going to be a bit of an effort if you want to frequent Downtown Boston. You’ll either have to opt for an Uber/Lyft or take the water taxi across the harbor.

Either way, this is a great option for those arriving late at night or departing with an early morning flight. The views are a must-see as well!
