Review: Hyatt Centric Faneuil Hall Boston, Deluxe King (2nd Stay)

Although not the most spacious, this Hyatt does the job in terms of convenience for both business and leisure travelers.

The Hyatt Centric is one of five Hyatt hotels within the immediate Boston area, and is arguably the most centrally located of them all (quite “centric,” isn’t it? 😉). The property is convenient for both business travelers and leisure travelers, as it’s in close proximity to both office buildings and many tourist spots.

I’ve reviewed this hotel earlier this year, but I unfortunately could only spend a very short time there and couldn’t get a good feel for the overall property. I had a little more time this time around, in addition to getting one of the Deluxe rooms.

Booking

I paid cash for this stay. It was $187 for one night, which I think is a fantastic deal for this hotel as I often see rates in the $300s. Additionally, I booked the 3,000 Bonus Points for Members option. It was only a dollar more than the regular Member Rate, so it was a no-brainer!

This property is a category 6, which I honestly think is too high. The location, convenience, and demand are the reasons for this high category number, but there are better properties to redeem (at least) 21,000 points.

Checking In

This hotel is pretty compact, but I find that Hyatt has made the best of what’s available.

Similarly, the lobby is modest in size, but is well-lit and has ample seating. I had to stop by the front desk to grab my keys, which took less than a minute.

This hotel has 12 floors. I made my way up to the 11th.

Room Impressions

I was assigned to room 1109. It’s a Deluxe King room. My understanding is that there are no suites in this property; the Deluxe and Corner rooms are the highest levels.

The room isn’t among the biggest out there, but it is more spacious compared to a standard king room.

The king bed faces a couple of windows and a small sofa. The TV is located on the side.

The windows of my room faced the street. I don’t recall any noise issues, both from the hallway and outside.

Despite the awkward placement of the TV, it’s designed so that it can stick out and switch directions, facing the bed. Although it’s a small extra step, watching TV from the bed isn’t an issue thanks to this.

There’s a tight path from the entrance to the bed. The room basically wraps around the bathroom.

Here, you can find the usual amenities of coffee, $6 water bottles, a safe, and a mini fridge.

A closet was next to that, followed by a small table and a square chair.

The bathroom is simple, but is well lit with all the necessary amenities.

A small space for the shower and the toilet is on the other side. There is no bathtub, which I typically don’t mind.

The shower amenities are BeeKind by Gilchrist & Soames, which is what we always see at other Hyatt Centrics.

More of BeeKind.

Overall Experience

The biggest positive to this hotel is its convenient location. It’s right in the middle of Boston, making it an ideal place for both business travelers visiting an office, or a tourist visiting tourist spots.

State Station on the Orange and Blue line is also a 1 minute walk away. The Blue line offers access to the airport.

The rooms are admittedly not spacious, even for Hyatt standards. However, I look at this hotel as more of a utilitarian purpose of having a place to sleep after a day of sightseeing or work nearby.

That said, I think a category 6 is a little too much for this property, as I can think of more lucrative redemptions starting at 21,000 points a night.

All in all though, this is a clean hotel with modern, up-to-date amenities. As long as the cash rate isn’t outrageous, I wouldn’t hesitate to book this property again, but for a more utilitarian purpose.
