Passengers Face TSA Wait Times Exceeding 90 Minutes in Houston

TSA continues to face staffing shortages as the government shutdown hits its 33rd day.

Passengers traveling through Houston’s Bush Airport are facing limited security checkpoints and staff in terminals, driving up wait times significantly.

According to the airport, passengers can expect over 90 minutes of waiting to go through security checkpoints as of 5 p.m. local time on Sunday. The airport is operating with checkpoints in only Terminals A and E, as checkpoints in Terminals C and D remain closed.

As the government shutdown hits its 33rd day, TSA continues to face staffing shortages.

Wait times for TSA PreCheck lines aren’t much better, also at 90 minutes.

Passengers went online to share updates, with one Reddit user noting that “Anecdotal feedback from fellow travelers suggested the regular security line was 120-150+ minutes of wait. Most were missing flights.”

Another user added that they were “Quoted 3+ hours without pre check” with the lines spilling out of the terminal.
