After lengthy delays, the Park Hyatt Johannesburg is finally set to open on July 1, according to the hotel’s website.
The opening of this hotel had been pushed back a few times, most recently from April of this year. However, the doors will open on Tuesday in the Rosebank area, replacing The Winston Hotel.
This will be the smallest Park Hyatt in the world with just 31 rooms. Standard rooms only come in two types: 1 King Bed and 1 King Bed Pool View. Suites come in four different forms: Junior Suite with Garden, The Winston Suite, Wellness Suite, and Rosebank Suite.
This hotel is a category 6. Those looking to book using points will be looking at 21,000 points during off-peak, 25,000 during standard, and 29,000 during peak periods.

For bookings during July, World of Hyatt members will have access to a Member Grand Opening rate for $451. This includes a complimentary breakfast buffet. Otherwise, prices seem to hover around $500 for most nights.
I wouldn’t expect much in the way of suite upgrades here if you’re a Globalist, considering the small number of rooms.
Inside the Hotel

I love the design of this property; it has a good boutique feel to it which adds to the posh theme.

The standard rooms are 34 square meters, or about 365 square feet. Each room features a bathtub, a private patio, and a private lounge.

Suites measure 42 square meters, or about 450 square feet. The Wellness Suite is the largest of them all, measuring up to 62 square meters, or about 667 square feet.

The hotel offers a few dining options. Room 32 and The Terrace offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while The Lounge is open during the morning hours with cigars, wines, and cocktails.
This property also includes a pool, a spa, a fitness center, and meeting and event spaces. The spa won’t be ready for the July 1 opening; we’ll have to wait a bit more for that to start rolling.

This Park Hyatt looks gorgeous. I think the fact that it’s a small property with just 31 rooms will add to the luxury feel of this place. It’ll help the hotel provide a more personal, private experience.
If I ever find myself in Johannesburg, I’ll have this place in mind.
