Limousine Bus From Haneda Airport: A Full How-To Guide

By Shawn Gallagher June 23, 2024

There are several transportation options to Downtown Tokyo once you arrive at Haneda Airport. The Limousine Bus is one of them.

The Limousine Bus is an intercity bus network connecting the airport with surrounding destinations. Most buses go to various places in Tokyo, but the network also serves surrounding towns and cities.

It’s a very convenient option especially if you have a lot of luggage, but don’t want to splurge on a pricey taxi (taxis are very expensive in Japan!). Here’s everything you need to know about taking this bus.

Arrival At Haneda Airport

Once you arrive at Haneda Airport and clear customs, you’ll see signs for all the transportation options. Head straight, and you’ll see ticket counters to both your left and right.

The ticket counter on the left side has in-person customer service. Just simply tell them your destination, and they’ll issue you the ticket for the next scheduled bus.

The right hand side has ticket machines. I don’t think they are difficult to navigate (there’s an English option), but if you don’t feel confident using them, you can stick to the in-person counter on the other side.

Boarding The Bus

After you get your ticket, head towards the signs that say “bus.” Once you get down to the ground level, you’ll see all the bus stops numbered in order.

Buses usually arrive around 5 minutes before departure time.

Large luggage can go underneath the cabin. You’ll hand it to an agent upon boarding, and pick it up when you arrive.

Onboard

The bus is plenty comfortable. Seats are first come, first serve.

The legroom is very generous. If you can handle a long economy class flight to Haneda, this bus will be no issue.

USB ports are available for window seats only. Some other bus models have power outlets instead.

From my experience, the Wifi on this bus is fantastic. I almost never have issues with connecting, and it offers pretty decent speed.

Price

The price varies by route. They’re obviously a bit more expensive than the train, but not by that much. A ticket from Terminal 3 to Tokyo Station costs 1000 JPY, or $6.26 (1 USD to 159.78 JPY as of June 23, 2024).

You can check out the Limousine Bus website for prices for each route.

Bottom Line

The Limousine Bus from Haneda Airport is a very convenient option for getting to Downtown Tokyo, especially if you have a lot of luggage.

I find the service easy to navigate and the bus ride itself is quite comfortable (and much more comfortable than taking a rush hour train with multiple suitcases!).
