JW Marriott Tokyo Set to Open on October 2, 2025

This property is part of the Takanawa Gateway City urban development program by JR East, and will occupy the 22nd to 30th floors of the South Station Complex Building.

In collaboration with the East Japan Railway Company (JR East), Marriott is set to open the JW Marriott Tokyo on October 2, 2025, according to the hotel’s website. Booking is also open, although award bookings do not appear to be available yet. This will be the second JW Marriott in Japan, and the first in Tokyo.

This property will feature 200 guestrooms, an executive lounge, a fitness center, a pool, a spa, and 740 square meters of event space.

The hotel is part of a broader urban development program by JR East called Takanawa Gateway City, and the hotel will occupy the 22nd to 30th floors of the South Station Complex Building. It’s right next door to Takanawa Gateway Station, and is also within walking distance to Shinagawa Station. Transportation-wise, I think this hotel is fantastic. You’re right on the Yamanote Line, which will take you to most of the busiest spots in the city. The proximity to Shinagawa Station also allows for a convenient ride to both Haneda and Narita Airport.

I’m not all too crazy about the overall location though; you’ll always require a ride on the train to get to any of the tourist areas. As nice as the redevelopment program is, there’s just not much to see around the area right now outside the immediate area.

Price-wise, this property begins at just over $1,000 per night.

The lowest rates I could find at the moment were in February, for ¥123,500 or about $831.

Not all guestrooms appeared to be available at the moment, however. I currently only see standard rooms: Urban Deluxe King and Double, Bay Deluxe King and Double, and JW Mindful Room King and Double. No suites are up for sale yet. I’d wait it out a little bit if you’re looking to book this place as we get more renderings and updated information.
