Hyatt has announced plans for a new Andaz hotel inside Meitetsu Nagoya Station, in an agreement with Nagoya Railroad Co., Ltd., commonly known as Meitetsu. The Andaz is expected to open after 2034 as part of a large redevelopment project around Nagoya Station, which includes the opening of the new Maglev Shinkansen Line.
This will be the first Andaz in Nagoya and Hyatt’s only property in the city. The hotel will have about 150 guest rooms and suites on the 25th to 29th floors. The building itself will be a new, multi-use urban complex integrated with Meitetsu Nagoya Station.
Hyatt adds that this property will include a rooftop bar, restaurants, lounges, meeting/event spaces, a fitness center, a pool, and a spa.

Meitetsu Nagoya Station is located in the middle of the city and is connected to Nagoya Station, which serves the JR lines and the Tokaido Shinkansen. It’s essentially the same station; the only difference is that the operating company for each is different.
The area around the station is full of shops and restaurants. The subway lines, JR lines, and Meitetsu Lines give convenient access to other tourist spots in the city, such as Nagoya Castle, Atsuta Shrine, the Nagoya City Science Museum, and more.
From my experience, Nagoya is very easy to get around. It’s a smaller city compared to Tokyo or Osaka, and most of the places to visit are located fairly close to one another. The transportation is convenient too.

The parts highlighted in orange in the above photo will be the Andaz. As you can see, it’s part of a much broader complex above the train station.
“Our vision for the Nagoya Station area is to create a vibrant, people-centered destination that fosters connections of diverse communities,” said Hiroki Takasaki, President of Nagoya Railroad. “We are excited to collaborate with Hyatt—renowned for its portfolio of captivating hotels around the world—in bringing this vision to life. As a lifestyle luxury hotel that embraces local culture and high-quality experiences, we are confident that Andaz Nagoya will become a symbolic presence that enhances the city’s appeal and contributes to its continued growth as an international city.”
Although this is still in the early stages of planning, I can see that this will be a big win for all parties. Meitetsu can add a potentially high-quality hotel in its new and exciting mixed-use complex, while Hyatt can grow their footprint in Japan in a city it currently doesn’t serve. The City of Nagoya lacks upscale properties as well, so this Andaz will be a great addition.
