The Hyatt Regency Times Square has opened its doors today, adding another option for travelers wishing to stay in Midtown Manhattan. This property is located on Broadway between 48th and 49th street, right next door to Times Square. I’d say visitors who wish to stay in the touristy spots of the city and have convenient subway options would enjoy this one.
This hotel features 795 rooms, a lounge, a grab-and-go space, and “…one of the largest hotel fitness centers in Manhattan.”
“Hyatt Regency Times Square is the most exciting recent addition to New York City’s hotel landscape,” said Mohit Malhotra, General Manager, Hyatt Regency Times Square. “The Hyatt Regency brand offers a seamless travel experience for both business and leisure guests. The hotel’s stunning design, incredible views and exhilarating location is complemented with comfort, convenience and genuine care for our guests, World of Hyatt members and customers.”

This property has a total of 23 standard room types and 3 suite types (both counting accessible rooms).
I checked the cash rate for various dates, and most seem to start at about the mid-$300s and top out in the high-$400s. Some busy days, like Christmas, had rates of over $800, while I did occasionally see rates around $260, like a Sunday night.
This Regency is a category 6. Those looking to book using points will be looking at 21,000 points during off-peak, 25,000 during standard, and 29,000 during peak periods. With cash rates varying heavily throughout the year, I’d say using points here could get you good value.

The rooms are simple, and most standard rooms are 323 square feet. Honestly, not bad for a New York City hotel. That said, room size shouldn’t be too much of a concern either way since you’ll probably be spending most of your time outside (this is my overall approach to city hotels and apartments)
The 1 Bedroom Suite measures 646 square feet, while the Penthouse Suite measures 969 square feet.
I will note that these rooms don’t seem to have desks.

I don’t think I’ll have an opportunity to stay here since I’m already in New York City, but I think it’s a strong option for visitors who want to stay close to the touristy area of Times Square.
Times Square-42 St Station also has a ton of subway lines, which this Regency is close to. Those looking to venture out to other parts of the city (which I highly recommend doing!) will have a lot of transit options from this station. I’d say if it’s your first time here and you want to check off many of the touristy must-visits in the city, this hotel could be a good option.
