Legroom is a key factor in how comfortable a flight will be. Unfortunately for travelers, legroom has shrunk over the past few decades. It’s crucial to know how much space each particular seat will have.
On a positive note, we can know in advance what to expect from published charts from airlines and reviews from passengers.
In this article, I will go over the legroom of Delta’s Economy and Comfort Plus products. Keep reading below to see what it’s like on board.
Legroom On Delta’s Economy
Although there are many aircraft types, legroom on most of Delta’s economy class products have 31 inches of legroom.
Some seats may be a bit tighter or a bit more spacious (30 or 32 inches), but 31 inches is what’s seen on most standard seats.

This is certainly not the most spacious. I’m 6’1/183cm, and I tend to get uncomfortable on these seats unless it’s a short 1 hour flight.
There are other factors in addition to height. Having an item under the seat in front of you, having an open seat next to you, and the length of the flight all contribute. Most passengers, however, are willing to sit in these seats for the given price.
Legroom On Delta Comfort Plus
Delta Comfort Plus is an economy class seat with extra legroom and a few other extra benefits. This is the equivalent of Main Cabin Extra on American Airlines and Economy Plus on United.

Comfort Plus has a noticeable amount of extra legroom. It has 34 inches of pitch, which helps make the flight more bearable, especially for us tall passengers.
You also receive some other benefits, such as priority boarding and dedicated storage space. Read my Comfort Plus review to learn more.
Bottom Line
It’s not fun to think about legroom on an airplane. It can be uncomfortable to be in those seats for a long period. Although there’s an extra cost, a Comfort Plus purchase may make sense for passengers who need it.
