Delta’s Shake Shack Burgers Expand to More Flights

Delta’s Shake Shack burgers are now available on flights out of 12 airports. Detroit is coming up next.

Shake Shack burgers on Delta’s First Class flights have been very popular. This was first announced towards the end of last year and began on flights from Boston. This expanded to more routes in March of this year, and is now expanding again, according to the airline yesterday.

With these new additions, Shake Shack burgers are now available on flights departing from the following airports:

  • Atlanta (ATL)
  • Boston (BOS)
  • Las Vegas (LAS)
  • Los Angeles (LAX)
  • Miami (MIA)
  • Minneapolis (MSP)
  • New York (JFK, LGA)
  • Orlando (MCO)
  • Salt Lake City (SLC)
  • San Francisco (SFO)
  • Seattle (SEA)

Remember, eligible flights are those longer than 900 miles.

Aviation watchdog JonNYC added that Detroit is going to be next following this expansion.

I can definitely see why these are popular, as many passengers enjoy having familiar foods in the air. I, too, tend to prefer foods that I know when traveling. At the same time, I also think about how foods like Shake Shack burgers are readily available in airports, and I don’t see the full appeal of having them on an airplane. Like, even if I was booked in basic economy and had no lounge access, I can still walk up to a Shake Shack in an airport and enjoy a Shake Shack burger for $20.

I think it’s a nice option to have, but not a game-changer by any means. After all, Delta is far from the first airline to offer burgers on an airplane.
