Delta SkyMiles Members Can Start Earning Miles on Uber This Week

The Delta-Uber partnership begins on Thursday, April 24th.

Delta has announced that starting on Thursday, April 24, SkyMiles members can start earning miles on Uber rides and Uber Eats deliveries by linking their accounts (members who joined the waitlist can start today).

CEO Ed Bastian first announced this during CES 2025 back in January. Delta states that its ” new exclusive rideshare and delivery partnership with Uber deepens the value of SkyMiles Membership by enhancing the end-to-end experience.”

Members will earn:

  • 3 miles per eligible dollar spent on Uber Reserve trips
  • 2 miles per eligible dollar spent on premium rides such as Uber Comfort and Uber Black
  • 1 mile per eligible dollar spent on UberX rides to and from airports
  • 1 mile per eligible dollar spent on $40+ restaurant and grocery orders with Uber Eats

In addition, passengers who use a Delta SkyMiles American Express Card will earn an additional 1 mile per dollar on the above categories.

To link your accounts on the Uber app, go to the “account” tab and scroll down, and click “partner rewards.” Find and click “Delta SkyMiles,” and you’ll be redirected to a page prompting you to log in.

Once again, customers can begin doing this on Thursday, April 24. If you signed up for the waitlist, you can start today.

This is similar to the partnership Delta used to have with Lyft. Their move to Uber isn’t much of a surprise, as both Delta and Uber have deep partnerships with Amex.

Previously with Lyft, passengers were able to earn 2 miles per dollar on rides to and from the airport, and 1 mile per dollar on all other trips. With Uber, it’ll be a simple 1 mile per dollar just on airport rides, unless you grab a premium ride (Uber Black, Uber Comfort). This may be a small devaluation with the partnership moving to Uber.

With that said, I think we are still better off navigating both Uber and Lyft to see which one is cheaper and has less wait time. The amount of miles you’d earn isn’t tremendous anyway, so I’d rather save a few minutes and a few dollars at a time and pick the rideshare service that way.

If Lyft is the cheaper and faster option today, then I’ll take Lyft. If Uber is the cheaper and faster option, then great! I’ll earn a few extra SkyMiles on the side. That’s my thought process when considering this partnership and getting to the airport.
