British Airways Unveils New First Class Product For The Airbus A380

By Shawn Gallagher November 26, 2024

British Airways has revealed a new First Class product for their Airbus A380 aircraft. First looks at these new seats look impressive and will undoubtedly improve the experience from the current First Class product.

These are scheduled to start flying at some point in 2026 as part of the A380’s retrofit plans. Let’s take a look at these seats.

First Impressions

These seats will be in a 1-2-1 configuration. Some airlines have adopted a 1-1-1 configuration for First Class (like the Japan Airlines Airbus A350 earlier this year), but British Airways is sticking with the 1-2-1.

These seats will feature privacy doors. Coupled with the high, 60-inch walls, privacy will be no issue.

The divider slides between the 2 seats in the middle can come down for couple travelers. British Airways claims that it can transform into a lounge space and passengers can enjoy ‘buddy dining’ from their seats.

The seats themselves will be a spacious 36.5 inches wide, along with a bed length of 79 inches. Each suite also will feature a 32-inch 4K screen.

The suites feature ample mood lighting, which I’m always a huge fan of.

Instead of overhead storage bins, passengers can utilize personal storage spaces built into the suite.

Modern in-flight entertainment, and do I see a USB-C outlet? More of those, please!

Like other new business class and first class products on other airlines, British Airways will also feature a Do Not Disturb function that can be toggled from the controller.

The Bottom Line

This suite is a modern and luxurious upgrade from their current First Class seat. Will it be industry-leading and one of the greatest in the market? Maybe not. But for the given routes on their Airbus A380, this will give passengers an elevated experience and allow British Airways to provide a true First Class product.
