Boston Logan Airport is reportedly testing a remote terminal program, where passengers would clear security at an off-site location and would be dropped off airside upon arrival at the airport after a bus ride.
Massport operates the Logan Express, a highway bus connecting Logan Airport with several locations around Massachusetts. Its Framingham service will be the site for the remote security screening.
Passengers would go through TSA screening at Framingham, board a bus, and arrive at Logan Airport in the terminal, past security.
Massport is working with TSA and is aiming for a start date of summer 2026.

The 22-mile ride from Framingham to Logan Airport is largely dependent on traffic. It could take as quickly as 30 minutes without traffic, or up to an hour with heavy traffic.
With the remote terminal program, passengers book tickets in advance with no difference in ticket prices. Buses would run once an hour with about 15 to 30 passengers.
Regular Logan Express bus service will continue as normal.

Boston Logan Airport has a notorious traffic problem in and around its premises. The airport roads around the terminals quickly become congested, and the tunnels connecting the airport to the city are often rough.
Massport claims that this new remote terminal program aims to reduce congestion by providing an appealing, alternate means of travel to the airport.
I already think the Logan Express bus is convenient, as it’s much cheaper to park at one of the garages at the bus stops instead of at the airport. It’ll be interesting to see how passengers react once the program begins, and how popular they will be.
