An equipment outage affecting air traffic control in the Dallas area has caused delays on Friday afternoon, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. It notes that the outage appears to be involving Dallas TRACON, a local ATC facility.
Ground stops were issued and continue to take effect for both Dallas-Fort Worth and Dallas Love Field airports.

The DFW ground stop only includes American Airlines and its subsidiaries, although that covers almost all traffic for the airport. The stop involves departures from all airports in the Mainland United States.
Dallas Love Field’s ground stop involves many departures around the US as well. The airport serves as one of Southwest’s hubs.

Delays look like they will linger for a while, as the FAA notes that the “…equipment issues have still not sufficiently been resolved,” as of Friday, 18:53 EST.
American Airlines has issued a travel waiver for this outage, allowing passengers to rebook without a change fee on trips scheduled on 19 September 2025. Flights must be rebooked between the 19th and the 21st.
Southwest has also issued a travel waiver for trips through Dallas, with changes and airfare differences waived. Rebooked tickets must be within 14 days of the original flight.
