American to Offer Non-Alcoholic IPA Onboard, Refreshed Meal Options

American states that this is an expansion of the lounge offerings in light of strong customer response.

Starting Feb. 1, American Airlines will offer Athletic Brewing Company’s Free Wave Hazy IPA onboard as its first non-alcoholic beer option.

Currently, the non-alcoholic offerings are available in Flagship Lounges and in Admirals Clubs. American states that this is an expansion of the lounge options in light of strong customer response.

I’ve spotted them in lounges as well. I’ve never had them personally, but I understand why they’d be popular and prompt a good customer response. It only makes sense to add them as an option for flights, not just on the ground.

Finding these non-alcoholic options on an airplane can often be tricky on many carriers. Passengers who choose to be sober may struggle with a lack of options onboard, and the new offering on American should come as a welcome addition.

In addition to the new non-alcoholic options, American will also be refreshing its menu on both domestic and international flights.

Starting Feb. 1, passengers flying Main Cabin on select flights within the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, and Mexico can enjoy a chicken salad and Boursin cheese wrap, along with coleslaw and a lemon shortbread cookie.

These will be available on mainline routes for $13, or 1,300 AAdvantage miles (just pay the $13; there are better ways to use miles).

  • Beef noodles
  • Egg fried rice
  • Scrambled egg, tomato compote, spinach and cheese
  • Dakdoritang braised chicken

These new offerings will also begin on Feb. 1.
