American Airlines has shared plans to open a brand new Flagship Lounge at its Miami hub, along with an expansion of the Admiral’s Club.
Currently, American has an Admiral’s Club located near gate D15, and a Flagship Lounge and another Admiral’s Club located near gate D30. This newly announced plan calls for the existing Flagship Lounge to be converted into an expanded Admiral’s Club, while building an all-new Flagship Lounge. The Admiral’s Club by D15 will stick around. American claims that they’ll be able to nearly double the amount of lounge space with this project.
Design-wise, I expect these to be similar to the new lounges in Philadelphia with a warm theme that gives a living room feel. American seems to like this design theme lately, as we’ve also seen it in Newark, Denver, and DCA. I’m a big fan of these.
The new Philadelphia lounges were also American’s first lounges to have eGates for entry. I’d imagine the airline is exploring something similar for these Miami lounges, unless the Philly ones are not doing well for some reason.

We don’t have that many details yet, but American has vaguely mentioned a few details that they’re planning for the space, including “spa-style shower suites” and artwork inspired by local culture.
“We’re excited to expand and elevate the premium experience for our Flagship customers and also provide a more spacious and calming environment in our Admirals Club lounges,” said Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer. “Our strong partnership with airport leaders and county officials has allowed us to identify solutions that will make our customers’ experience even better, and we’re eager to work with them in building out this enhanced space.”

American desperately needs more lounge space in Miami. The clubs there are almost always jam packed.
Of course, the Miami airport in general needs a major overhaul. Sad that it’s the first thing so many experience when coming to the States.
