Yesterday, American Airlines announced the opening of a new Flagship Lounge in Charlotte, which will mark the hub’s first. Additionally, the new lounge will be complemented by expanded Admirals Clubs, further increasing the lounge space at American’s second largest hub.
Passengers will have a good number of lounges to choose from once the Flagship Lounge is complete, including the Admirals Clubs in Concourses B and C/D and the new Provisions by Admirals Club in Concourse A. The number of choices here is key in Charlotte’s notoriously tight terminal buildings.
The Flagship Lounge will also open up Charlotte as a more desirable hub for premium passengers connecting onwards to an international destination.
“As an airline, we’re committed to meeting the needs of our customers, and we’re excited to continue to invest in our lounges at CLT,” said Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer. “These improvements will introduce a premium experience for our Flagship customers and provide more space in our Admirals Club lounges.”

American’s recent trend with its lounge design has utilized soft lighting with a lot of brown and orange involved in its furniture and overall theme, and I’m a big fan of it. I expect this to continue with the new Charlotte lounge.
Additionally, passengers should expect an experience that’s on par with other Flagship Lounges across the country, including bar and dining spaces, spa-style shower suites, workstations, and kid-friendly family rooms.
As usual, AAdvantage members can access Flagship Lounges with Platinum status or higher on qualifying international flights, and other Oneworld Sapphire status holders (excluding Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards members) can have access on any American Airlines or Oneworld flight. First and business class passengers on qualifying international/transcontinental legs also get access, and single visit passes are $150, or 15,000 AAdvantage miles.
