Today, American and DFW Airport announced an expansion to their ongoing investment in the construction of the new Terminal F. The agreement now includes a $4 billion investment in the new terminal and accelerates the construction plans, and extends American’s Use and Lease agreement with DFW to 2043.
This new plan will double the number of gates, deliver facilities for international operations, offer more lounge, premium, and check-in space, and provide a new, dedicated parking garage.
American Airlines CEO Robert Isom noted that “…with this expanded plan for Terminal F, DFW has a clear path to become the largest airline hub in the world.”

The first phase of this construction is currently underway and is scheduled to be operational in 2027. The terminal will have a Skylink station that connects to all other terminals, as well as a walking connection with Terminal D.
American Airlines is expected to occupy this entire terminal.

There was always an expectation of a Terminal F at DFW. Although I was excited to see the initial (phase one) announcement a few years ago, I thought there was more they could do. American and DFW did just that today with this new expansion and the addition of new airport amenities. It’s safe to say that DFW will play an even bigger role in American’s network moving forward.
