Alaska Airlines Plans New Lounge in San Diego

The San Diego lounge will begin construction in 2027 and will join the Hawaiian Premium Lounge in Honolulu and the Flagship Alaska Lounge in Seattle as the airline’s newest lounges when it opens.

Alaska Airlines has announced plans for a new lounge in San Diego as it continues its expansions and premium push.

Construction is set to begin in early 2027, meaning that passengers still have time until they can experience this new lounge experience. Based on this, I would think that this lounge will open in 2028.

The lounge will span over 13,000 square feet and will feature Signature Loungers, locally inspired refreshments and bites, a full-service bar, and a barista station. According to the airline, this new lounge is set to be one of the largest in San Diego.

Given the already strong network that Alaska holds in San Diego, this lounge will further make Alaska a strong option for passengers flying in and out of the city. Those in First Class on routes greater than 2,000 miles, Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald status holders, and Lounge+ members can get access.

“With our new San Diego Lounge on the horizon, we’re shaping the future of travel with spaces designed to make travel feel seamless, elevated and welcoming,” said Todd Traynor-Corey, Alaska Airlines Vice President of guest products and experience.

In addition to this San Diego lounge, the airline is opening a Hawaiian Premium Lounge and a Flagship Alaska Lounge in Seattle, both in 2027. I think it’s really cool to see these new lounges play out as Alaska continues its push to become a more global airline, and Alaska passengers have a lot to look forward to.
