American Airlines is investing in its lounges at Chicago O’Hare Airport and will open a new Admirals Club in Concourse L, which will eventually replace the existing lounge in the building.
The new 10,000-square-foot Admirals Club will provide more space to work and relax before flights. The space will feature local Chicago design and artwork, and floor-to-ceiling windows offering sweeping views of ramp and taxiway activity. Passengers can also expect up-to-date amenities and technology in the new space, a welcome upgrade over the current offering in the concourse.
“We’re helping customers at ORD connect to the world with more than 500 flights daily, and we want to offer a premium experience from start to finish,” said Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer. “The new Admirals Club lounge will offer more seating and upgraded amenities and fully reflect the standards our customers expect when visiting one of our lounges.”
Currently, American Airlines offers Admirals Clubs in Concourse H/K and Concourse L, and a Flagship Lounge in Concourse H/K. The existing Concourse L Admirals Club will remain open during construction of the new lounge.

American will also be continuing its new lounge concept with this new Admirals Club lounge, also seen in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and others, featuring soft lighting and darker themed colors.

This new lounge opening also features American’s fierce competition at Chicago O’Hare against United. Both carriers have ramped up their network and destinations over the past year.
Admirals Club access is valid for passengers with an Admirals Club membership, the Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard, qualifying Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald status, and a day pass for $79 or 7,900 AAdvantage miles.
