Delta Adds 2026 Patriots’ Day Capacity from Boston to 10 Destinations

The airline is targeting Massachusetts residents looking for warm weather during the April state holiday.

Delta Air Lines will add capacity to 10 destinations from Boston during Patriots’ Day weekend next year. The holiday is observed on the third Monday of April in Massachusetts and six other states.

The holiday is a big deal every year in Boston, as it is when the annual Boston Marathon takes place. Schools get time off, people visit the city for the marathon, and college students take advantage of the three-day weekend to travel.

Airlines typically add a bit of capacity this weekend to meet the demand for the number of runners and spectators coming into the city. This announced expansion though, is targeting Massachusetts residents traveling for the holiday.

Cities with added capacity from Boston Logan Airport (BOS) are as follows:

  • Panama City, Florida (ECP)
  • Charleston, South Carolina (CHS)
  • Jacksonville, Florida (JAX)
  • Orlando, Florida (MCO)
  • Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (MYR)
  • West Palm Beach, Florida (PBI)
  • Pensacola, Florida (PNS)
  • Fort Myers, Florida (RSW)
  • Savannah, Georgia (SAV)
  • Sarasota, Florida (SRQ)

The additional capacity will operate on April 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, and 26th.

I was at the Boston Marathon this past April. The city had lots of energy and passion, and I could see how the city welcomes a ton of runners and spectators.

Not only “Marathon Monday,” as they call it in Boston, but the entire weekend is full of travelers hanging out while runners prepare for race day. It’s really a weekend event, not just a single day thing with the marathon.

I would think that Delta has additional aircraft focusing on Boston that week anyway, with the additional flights focused on the city for the marathon, so it makes sense to turn those aircraft around and focus on leisure destinations for Massachusetts residents to enjoy for the holiday. The added capacity here makes a lot of sense.
