Hyatt Centric Chicago O’Hare Opens Following Revitalization Project

The former Hyatt Rosemont Chicago O’Hare has reopened as a Hyatt Centric.

Hyatt announced the opening of the Hyatt Centric Chicago earlier today. This property used to be the Hyatt Rosemont Chicago O’Hare, which had closed to undergo a revitalization project for this Hyatt Centric.

It’s one of the three Hyatt hotels near Chicago O’Hare Airport, the other two being the Hyatt Regency and the Hyatt Place. All of them offer complimentary shuttle service to and from the terminals, and although the Hyatt Regency is technically the closest, the time differences between all of them are negligible.

This Hyatt Centric features 206 guestrooms, recreational facilities, a full-service restaurant with a patio, covered parking options, and more. Hyatt did note some of the surrounding attractions for customers, such as the Rosemont Theater and the Rivers Casino nearby, but I expect the majority to be staying for the airport.

“More than just a place to stay, this hotel offers travelers a fresh and dynamic space where leisure and adventure collide under one roof,” said Robert Habeeb, Founder & CEO of Maverick Hotels and Restaurants, owner of Hyatt Centric Chicago O’Hare. “With modern design, elevated amenities, and unmatched proximity to the airport, we’re proud to showcase what it means to stay in the center of the action.”

This hotel is a category 2. Those looking to book using points will be looking at 6,500 points during off-peak, 8,000 during standard, and 9,500 during peak periods.

I checked the cash rates for this hotel, and they mostly hover between $200 and $300. The above photo is for tomorrow night. Random days all the way in October were still in the mid $200s.

An airport hotel isn’t the most lucrative place to spend points, but you might be able to get some good value if the cash rates are indeed high, considering it’s only a category 2.

A Look Inside

This is basically a renovation for this property, as the previous Hyatt was getting tired and needed a refresh.

The property seems very “Hyatt Centric,” if you know what I mean. The overall design in both the lobby and the rooms is simple and playful.

I’ve seen similar themes in other Hyatt Centric properties. Airport hotels are often used transiently, so I find that the upkeep of these properties is the most important, as I don’t expect all the in-room amenities in the world for this kind of stay. As long as I can have a comfortable sleep in a well-kept room, I’d be happy.

Guestrooms feature a 55-inch flat screen LCD HDTV and BeeKind bath amenities, which are the same type found in other Hyatt Centric properties.

Standard rooms are 350 square feet, while suites are 700 square feet (the Presidential Suite is 1,460 square feet).

Cima is the onsite restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hyatt notes that this restaurant “…will offer an elevated, yet approachable dining experience that blends warm hospitality with vibrant Mediterranean flavors.” A 50-seat patio is also available for guests to enjoy.

Bottom Line

As I said, most guests use airport hotels in a transient manner. I’m personally not looking for all of the in-room amenities in the world at a place like this, but the upkeep is most important. I’m glad to see this renovation take place and see this property reopen.

Hyatt offers a solid selection around Chicago O’Hare Airport. Having three different properties is nice to have, considering their small footprint. Hopefully this Hyatt Centric will be a solid choice for travelers who need a stay around O’Hare Airport.
