As much as we are accustomed to having an internet connection all the time in our lives today, airplanes can be a challenge. Wi-Fi can be expensive on certain flights, and some aircraft may not offer Wi-Fi at all.
However, there are still ways to make the most of your time in the air to keep yourself busy and even have fun on your flight. Here are my top 5 things to do on a flight without Wi-Fi.
1. Offline Video Games
Although you can’t play online, there are still plenty of games you can play offline. The in flight entertainment on your aircraft might have some. However, go to the App Store on your phone before hand and download a few games so you have ones that you know you’ll enjoy.
Minecraft Pocket Edition used to be my go-to when I was growing up.

2. Read a Book/Kindle
You can’t go wrong with bringing a book or a Kindle onto your flight. Kindles are especially handy because you’ll be able to download multiple reads onto the one Kindle, which can be a difference maker when it comes to packing.
Many stores in the airport offer a selection of books and magazines. They’re a place to look if you’re in need of a read before you board.
3. Enjoy The Window View
If you have a window seat, enjoying the views outside is a great way to enjoy your flight. Sunrise and sunset flights are especially nice, as I enjoy these views no matter how many times I fly and see it.
I’ve also been lucky to have run into the northern light several times. I consider these lifetime memories and all it took was taking a break from my work, putting my computer down, and taking a look out the window.

4. Download Movies And Shows
Going through the seletion of movies on your IFE screen and not finding anything you’d enjoy is not a great feeling. To avoid this, it can be a good idea to prepare your own entertainment before your flight.
I’ve previously used my computer to watch movies during my flight. I’d say tablets are handy, as they aren’t too big to carry around like a computer, but still big enough to enjoy watching on a larger screen.
5. Edit And Organize Photos
Your flight is a great time to edit those photos and videos you took during your trip. As long as they’re downloaded onto your phone, you can take the time and edit and organize them so that you’ll be ready to share them with your friends and on social media when you arrive.
If you’re just starting your trip, it’s also a good idea to go through some older photos and videos and delete the ones you don’t need. This can save up storage space and ensures that you’ll have enough during your trip.
I personally have many unnecessary screenshots, which I often get rid of on my flights.
Bottom Line
Even if you don’t have an internet connection on your flight, there are still many ways to stay busy during your flight. It’s just best to be prepared before your flight so that you can be sure that you’ll be able to make the most of your time.
